El domingo 12 de marzo tuvo lugar la 95 entrega de los Premios Oscar, el mayor reconocimiento del mundo cinematográfico. El Dolby Theatre de Los Ángeles fue sede nuevamente de la gala central, que contó con la conducción de Jimmy Kimmel. En América Latina, la transmisión televisiva estuvo en manos de TNT y HBO Max (la plataforma de streaming albergará la ceremonia de premiación y el pre-show durante tres días más).
Everything, Everywhere, All At Once era la película con más nominaciones (11) y se consagró también como la más premiada, al recibir un total de 7 galardones: Mejor película, Mejor dirección (Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheinert), Mejor guion original, Mejor actriz protagónica (Michelle Yeoh), Mejor actriz de reparto (Jamie Lee Curtis), Mejor actor de reparto (Ke Huy Quan) y Mejor edición.
El film alemán All Quiet on the Western Front finalmente venció a Argentina, 1985 en la categoría de Mejor película internacional y se llevó otros tres premios: Mejor banda sonora, Mejor fotografía y Mejor diseño de producción. Brendan Fraser resultó el ganador a Mejor actor por su protagónico en The Whale, y el Oscar a Mejor guion adaptado fue para Women Talking. Tár, The Fabelmans y The Banshees of Inisherin se fueron con las manos vacías.
En cuanto a las presentaciones musicales, David Byrne, Stephanie Hsu y Son Lux interpretaron “This Is A Life” (canción de la película Everything, Everywhere, All At Once); Rihanna llevó al escenario “Lift Me Up” (de Black Panther: Wakanda Forever); Sofia Carson y Diane Warren hicieron “Applause” (de Tell It Like A Woman); mientras Rahul Sipligunj y Kaala Bhairava hicieron lo propio con “Naatu Naatu” (RRR), canción que además resultó la ganadora de la categoría Mejor canción original. Lenny Kravitz interpretó “Calling All Angels” al piano en el segmento “In Memoriam”.
