Así como recientemente Rolling Stone revisó y volvió a publicar su ranking de los mejores 500 discos de la historia, el medio uDiscover Music se aventuró a confeccionar un listado con los mejores 25 álbumes de rock progresivo de la historia.
Brett Milano, un compositor y autor de los libros Vinyl Junkies: Adventures in Record Collecting (St Martins, 2003) y Don't All Thank Me at Once: The Lost Pop Genius of Scott Miller (125 Press, 2013), fue el encargado de darle forma a este top 25, el cual fue encabezado por Close to the Edge, el quinto LP de Yes editado el 13 de septiembre de 1972 y cuyo tema homónimo fue designado como el segundo mejor en la historia del género, según compartió la web Prog Report en mayo.
Para completar su podio, el también ex publicista de Rhino Records y editor de la revista OffBeat en Nueva Orleans, y actual redactor en el Boston Herald seleccionó el proyecto debut de King Crimson, In the Court of the Crimson King, y The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, el sexto disco de Genesis.
