Joni Mitchell anunció la salida de Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963-1967), un box set de cinco discos que, como su nombre lo indica, servirán para repasar los años de la carrera de la exitosa cantautora previos a su disco debut producido por Davi Crosby en 1968, Song to a Seagull.
Según reza la descripción del lanzamiento en la web oficial de la artista, el proyecto incluirá “casi seis horas de grabaciones inéditas tanto caseras como en vivo y en la radio que fluyen cronológicamente para pintar un rico retrato del rápido crecimiento de Mitchell como intérprete y compositora durante el período previo a su álbum debut”.
“Este tesoro de audio inaudito incluye 29 composiciones originales de Mitchell que nunca antes se habían lanzado con su voz”, anticipa el texto que también informa que “esta colección incluye un libro de 40 páginas que presenta muchas fotos inéditas de la colección personal de Joni, así como nuevas notas que muestran conversaciones entre el escritor y cineasta, Cameron Crowe, y Mitchell, quienes recientemente pasaron un par de domingos por la tarde juntos discutiendo sus archivos”.
La primera de las canciones inéditas de la música de 76 años se llama “House of the Rising Sun” y fue grabada durante una presentación que Joni realizó en la radio CFQC AM de Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, en 1963, cuando tenía apenas 19 años. Podés darle play al final de la nota.

Y luego escuché y… fue hermoso. Me hizo perdonar mis comienzos. Y me di cuenta… ¡era un cantante popular!”
